Definitions of grammar

Noun – a word refering to a person, place or thing e.g. chair, football, Claire, Lyon

Adjective – describes a noun e.g. young, pretty

Verb – a word expressing an action or state of being e.g. to run, to live

Adverb – a word that modifies a verb or adjective e.g. quickly, hungrily

Pronoun – a word that subsitutes a noun e.g. he, it, there

Preposition – a word used to relate a noun or pronoun to another part of a sentence e.g. of, at

Slang – informal, non-standard vocabulary
